Why not store your valuable reels under hatch especially when surf landing ?
I saw a high end reel (Avet) attatched to a broken rod few days ago just outsdie LJ surf zone(6 feet or so deep) in the morning, very temping to jump out and get it , but decided not to... That's somebody's $300+ in the water....
