I prefer to fish the green macks, but if they are scarce fish the bait you can catch. I caught a yt last Wednesday on a surface iron that must have been hunting all through the water column; it had squid, rockfish, and smelt or grunion in it. It even had a small stone in it's stomach. My first kayak yt in LJ was on a jumbo smelt. Greenies are better, usually, but if you catch Spanish or even smelt you can still be in the game. Keep banging away at LJ and good things will happen.
