I have had family in town over the past cpl weeks and was finally able to get out on the water. I wanted to hit the bay pretty bad after that warm front we had last week in hopes of early spawners. I didn't launch till 8am bc of the haze this morning. Started out outside the launch in the AR and then moved to the bridge. All I was catching at first was little guys. Once the tide went slack I moved over to the piers just north of 32nd. I changed up from my 5" swimbait to an 8". Only reason I was throwing the 8" was bc the color was hot and I ran out of the 6 inchers. It didn't taking long to start getting hit. Finally got the hook set on one. A football sandie, 20" everybit of 4.5-5lb. Very next cast get smoked again. Up came another pig, this time it's a 18" spotty with big shoulders and a fat little gut. It was every bit of 3.5lb. I wish I had someone with me to get a good pic. It's one of the biggest I've ever caught. Everything I caught had fat guys, bait every where. Massive schools that constantly filled my electronics through out the better part of the day. So whether she was full of eggs or just healthy I dunno.
