Took the Plunge

I'm mounting the long XNT 9 DI transducer about 1/2 off the centeline between the sail mast post the the Mirage drive cutout. It's too long to fit on the centerline. Tonight I'm marine gooping a foam cut-out to the hull, gluin gto the sail post mast as well. Tomorrow I'll clean out any excess goop on the inside, and run a bead around the outside edge of the foam cut out.

Per suggestion of another user, I'm going to try Super Lube in the cut-out and bottom of the transducer. Just a light layer which should press out to a thin coating.

Hope to try it out next week end at LJ.

Funny thing is that the transducer bottom has a metal protrusion (temp probe no doubt) that seems to prevent the transducer from laying perfectly flat against the hull. It rocks slightly. This might allow air between the transducer and the hull. Maybe I'll use a dremel to sand it down even to the transducer bottom.
