No 2 speed isnt necsessary but if you can afford it why not? 2 speed does come in handy when your crankn up that pesky BSB from the bottom or that huge YT you cant get a crank on...

Just purchased one of each from CharkBait.

The JX pulled out a 33 YT without any probs. 2 speed? Why?


They are both nice and shiny..........your choice. On a kayak you will not need anything more than a JX.

This post was very helpful because I also was wondering what ever to get. And I'll agree 2 speed is not necessary and you can still catch fish without it just fine, but also carbon fiber paddle or a HDS fish finder is not necessary but man they are sure nice.
Only time I have ever used my 2nd speed on my tyrnos is when squid fishing, made it actually enjoyable to drag them up from the depths lol.
