I've started packing. I'm inspired it just needs to get a bit warmer and I'm there. Great pictures it looks like it was a lot of fun.

Great fotos and report. Ive driven over that I40 bridge so many times tovisit family in AZ and always wanted to get on the river. Just checked googlemaps satalite and the back waters and hidden lakes north of the 40 bridge look amazing. Is the fish in the second to last foto a small mouth? I didn't know they lived that far south. Mke

Yes, small mouth! That was my intended target fish. I caught a few 1/2 pounders, was hoping for one like the 4 pound LMB I caught. Those river bass love to jump!

Years ago I paddled from Blyth CA to Yuma AZ. The fishing was great, plenty of nice bass and a few cats mixed in. When the gates shut in the evenings the backwaters get cut off and you could see fish finning across the surface, it was a super cool trip.
