Yes it's a shortfin.

This one is a orangemouth corvina


These are shortfin corvina.

This one is a seabass



The fact his fish has no color bars, has a convex tail, with a silver mouth and fangs all suggest it's a shortfin corvina. Not to mention Shortfin Corvina like surface lures and flies.
