That's why im picking the lake and not the ocean. If worst comes to worst ill drop anchor and put my back to the wind. Then ill be able to cast a looong way

Just be prepared to (very) quickly cut the anchor line. Have you ever paddled in 30 MPH winds; I can tell you, you'll have a hard time maintaining position, let alone gaining headway.
With that said, I bet you were planning on scrapping the trip before I stated the above. |

Yes I have paddled in 30mph winds ive been speer fishing right before a typhoon as well.and Yes it sucks. So at worst ill get an awesome workout and hopefully catch some fish. Its my day off tomorrow im going fishing...

If the winds are up they will not allow you to kayak on the lake. We have had people at the gate and store say its OK and twenty minutes later the patrol boat kicked us out. Be prepared...the wind is likely to prevent you from kayaking tomorrow.

Yeah the lake staff like to get your money first before they tell you you cant launch your kayak....been there done that...
