let's see first shark I saw was A large Great White.

I have also had A Mako and a Hammerhead doing laps around my kayak for 15 minutes apiece.

Super AWESOME experiences.

Saw two 5-6 foot mako's last time out. No big deal. They live out there.

I've been surfing, So and Nor Cal, for 30 years and kayaking for 15 years and so far I've seen threshers and makos here in cali and a black tip in the Outer Banks of NC. Sharks live in the ocean. Don't let that fact keep you on the beach. Seeing a shark is usually a rare and special event. Last week end I had a mako bite a bonito in half right next to the yak. Mike

Hammerhead circled me for about an hour gave me a couple of bumps. Got the adrenaline pumping for a while but was more of an nuisance than anything else.

Shark Sheild

Invest in a Shark Shield and you'll be fine. Or just fish without it and hope you don't get bumped. Truth is, the day will come when you get your first experience with a GW. Every experience is different, some bad lots that are ok. Its their ocean and your in it.

I surfed with a buddy of mine for about 30 yrs. We use to say, "when you enter the water, you enter the food chain" Have a nice day!

I've seen an 8ft hammerhead last year several times on the same day. Tossed a bait to it several times. Hooked it twice for 10 secs max before her teeth did the job.

Also last week I had a 4-5ft mako break me off twice while cirlcling the yak and eating both baits I had out. Bumped my hull too.
