Okay, I'll reveal my ignorance, and probably destroy the thread with a stupid question.

I have always just fished mono. Recently I put spectra on one of my reels. So far I like the way it fishes. I haven't been using a leader. Is this completely stupid? Is there a reason to always use a mono or other leader? Is it to add some stretch in the end of the line, or to have less visible line?

Thanks! Adam

Shock leaders are good because, it is very easy to pull a hook with straight spectra, esp on WSB, and YT. Visibility can be a factor as well to varying degrees. I like Seaguar Fluoro...

Thanks for the feedback. I will stop being lazy and use a leader.
