There is a little side to side movement in the racks when they are full loaded. The key is to adjust the correct width of these racks to fit the bed right. I had them a little too narrow at first and had to stretch them open a bit to fit, and noticed side movement. I adjusted them out and it mostly went away. All the hardware seems pretty good grade. At least a 5 if not 8. Even with my truck being as bouncy as it is, I havent been too worried about it. The way they clamp to the bed rails seems to distribute the load evenly.

There might be some more insight online from others reviewing.
