I've never seen or heard of that particular pacific red snapper being caught around here.

Great foto of the paddle to catch red snapper. I have never heard if any member of the Lutjanus family caught in CA waters. The closest snapper to Cali are in the sea of cortez. Many species there. Mike

According to a site I was looking at last night rock fish on the pacific coast is sold as red snapper. It isn't the same as atlantic red snapper but out here all rock fish can be sold as red snapper.
