While waiting for the experts I will chime in.

I am intrigued by this as well and I have everything I need to make one. I am thinking that coated steel would be best as the hollow tube will hold saltwater, which will start uncoated steel leader rusting in short order. Braid would work as well but I am concerned about abrasion at each end of the tube. If using braid I would consider having a bead at each end, glued to the tube.

Not often I hook a big fish, nevermind whether or not it is on a sabiki.

Sabiki version 502 soon to be tested.
