I was on the Toronado and a 254 lbs tuna was landed on 60 lb main line tied to 80 lb flouroleader. Just have to make sure you have a really strong circle hook.

The other thing is that everyone seems to be crimping their lines instead of tying knots. Look into this.

As far as reels- a 30 sized reel will suffice if the fish doesn't run directly down. Gonna take sometime 2-3 hours. but you could get that thing onboard in 30 mins with a 2 speed and 100lb mainline with 130lb leader.

The heavy leader is imperative. would not use anything under 80 lb. Bluefin teeth are no joke and will pop line really easy.
