I have a long knife like slow pitch jig that's about 10" long and weighs 200g (7oz). Last year I was dropping it into bait balls for game fish, I quickly learned how ineffective it was for big fish when mackerel are around. I was pulling up 4 at a time, 1 on each of the 4 assist hooks.

next time I am out and macks are stealing my bait/jigs ill try and replicate it. I think they were attracted to the skirts on the hooks of the jig
