When I fished off shore with an outboard motor
It became natural to look for water spraying from the water pump and replacing it before it failed and you burn your motor up, also debris can plug the line too.
If you start to notice a difference vibration in the motor, it could be saltwater has ate through the water passages and got to the bearings on the crank. Your first rebuild. I made it in from the 55 spot on the 9, glad i was close. 2cycle with out getting stuck the first time. The second time I made it in with my kicker back up motor at night fishing Zungia jetty.Think I was hoop netting lobster. Good luck to you.
