That was fun to watch. I am assuming that the guy in the Hobie gave you a bit of a tow away from the kelp. Very cool. Another feature to go into the Hobie brochure.
I have read that some people consider BSB to be a pest, a nusance catch. Maybe so, but I suspect that you don't feel that way after doing battle with that monster, (except for the fact that you never got to see color). For many of us, fishing is about catching, not necessarily about putting the fish in the boat. From that prospective, hooking a huge BSB might be just the ticket. Looking forward to my opportunity. Awesome video, I got to watch the beginning first hand. I was the guy on the blue Prowler you flew past on your way to the kelp. Always enjoy your videos.
