I don't see why braining it will not work.
Just one question, do you plan on braining it while it is in the water or on the yak? Are you going to grab the tail then brain it? Remeber unlike the halibut you have brained with a billy, the thresher has a billy also and welcomes the fair fight. |

They've usually cut it. Either on the gills or behind the head, severing the spinal column. A little twitch or headshake isn't uncommon. Just keep the mouth away from your crotch and face.

I know on my buddy's boat we tail drag makos, I guess you can't get
enough speed with a yak.

then they have a no stretch rope attached to your yak and they're able to swim at will......you would be in the water pretty quick.
