Very slow morning. Bait was diffuse but plentiful by the pier. Trolled over to the kelp to find pots everywhere. Also, tons of broken up kelp, made trolling an exercise in frustration. Wind kicked on hard around 9:00am. Outside of the reserve line I saw some marks so I dropped the sabiki to see what it was. Whammo, I'm on. Thing runs straight to the bottom and we stalemate for a while before it finally comes up. Big bat ray, damn! Only excitement, other than a pod of 100+ porpoise that went racing by outside. Water still very chilly and very green. Lots of biolum in close in the morning. Not looking good for the weekend.
