I thought it was pretty darn good. I would watch it just for the cinematography alone. Great camera work.

Same reason I liked River Monsters. They had to have a hacky mystery to keep the attention of a general audience, but the cinematography far surpassed anything on the WFN with often times better fishing as well.

I fished with local guys when I lived in Kaneohe, Oahu from 2002-2004. We would come to the docks and sell fish all the time. People would ask and you could sell. If the docks were empty you just put a sign up in your front yard and people would stop in to buy fish. We had no fishing license let alone a commercial license.

Tie a tea leaf on the boat and head out.

I liked the cinematography as well but lost interest quickly.

Didn't dig the brotherhood (we all know about it), fishing for cash, running with rocks, biting the octopus, ect. Also during the two tuna hook-ups the reel went from a gold Penn to a black Penn several times which makes you question the validity of the show. I also believe the sleigh ride they show in the opening is actually tied to a boat.

Seems like they had to write a story-line some where between Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna. Not my cup of tea as it does not reflect reality.

It's a TV show, had to keep repeating that while I watched.

A pet peeve of mine with fishing shows is dubbing in the clicker sound when fighting a fish. Now everytime I see a shiny gold Penn Torque that dreaded noise will replay in my head.

Also incontinuinity with shots. Noticed the same exact rod used for bendo shots for two different scenes, one with Rob and once with Jon Jon. This was a custom rod ( yellowish wraps with dragon scale ) and I doubt they both ordered the same exact one.

Hated the Boogie D segments. Over dramatized. Having his client jump into shark infested waters to untangle the rudder or else "he can't paddle in" . A good guide would paddle over and help no? Also if so dangerous, why is the camera man in the water with him? And losing visual with your client even with a camera crew on a boat?

Always liked Rob since watching those Penn promo vids. 800 bucks for a 40# tuna though? It's been 2 bucks a pound here in SD, straight from the RSW.

Jon Jon is funny. I like his DGAF I'm gonna get a WR marlin campain. Can't wait to see more of him.

And Kimi biting the octopus to kill it, hell yeah!

Would like to see more footage of the local life, food, wahines.

Overall like the show. It's no accurate depiction, well cause it's gotta appeal to the masses. That said can't wait to see the new wave of kayak fisherman out on the water expecting the type of fishing they watch on TV.

I thought it was ok....

Not sure if the show will work....but I guess it remains to be seen. It's different from wicked tuna and the deadliest catch in the sense that there is no competition between the teams/groups of the show. So there's only one set of commercial guys...and everyone else does their own thing...?

The whole carrying rocks underwater to train for kayakfishing was a bit much...I did get a kick outta that one...

The camera crew should have come to lj yesterday, they could have filmed me carrying my PA underwater upside-down

I just want a show that focuses more on the fishing, bait options bait choice, where and how to find themWhat tackle do you use when you have one type versus another.explain hook sizes, line sizes and brands. Rod reels. Kayak accessories, the list goes on.they just go straight into character development; this guy is the cool old timer, this guy is the new hothead, how will they fish these waters together and educate poeople on their techniques and gear.

I'm sure the producers are filling it with drama to attract the viewers, they could care less about hook sizes and bait options.

That whole scene with Rob and Jon Jon...., what the hell was all that about? So these guys, (Rob and Andy) 'own' the waters and specific spots? Get real. That really gives the sport and us kayak fisherman a black eye. I know that's it just a TV show and that they need to have 'conflict' in it so that people will want to watch, but that was a bit over the top. Jon Jon should have just gone out anyway and told them to get lost.

Oh, by the way...., I now claim the fishing rights to all of Newport Harbor. Anyone who wants to fish there has to check with me and get my permission first! Rob need not apply....

The whole carrying rock under water is what deep divers do to train underwater. Don't see the point unless he was going to go spear..

But none the less I'm going to try that in LJ and see if that helps me launch better..

I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't like some of the cut in scenes during the fights showing the wrong rods and reels, I was checking out their boats and their rigging but it was hard to even see their live bait tanks. That dude on a tandem with outriggers.. I don't know but that seems like cheating. Some footage of dynamite fishing would be cool.

Anyone pick up the setup when using dead bait that makes it appear to swim like a live bait ?

I think it was just a swivel to a 20' leader. It was the tuna he had to hand line up the last 20' because the swivel won't fit through the guides.

I thought the show was a great watch. Entertaining and if you look at it from a beginner stand point, it does offer what dreams you can achieve in the sport of fishing on plastic. The show also highlight safety so it should enlighten some people.

Hey its another kayak show! There's too many boating show and not enough kayak show. And its another spot light that shines on the kayak fishing community to showcase you could still tackle that 100+ lbs pelagic on a piece of plastic.

Can't wait to see the rest of the season and see how it plays out.

Thought it was great! Showed the world(who knows nothing about our addiction) a glimpse of what kayak fisherman do. I've seen dudes turn tail at the LJ launch because they were scared of knee slappers, the conditions they were fishing in were extreme compared to what we are normally faced with. It was entertaining so say the least. Those of you who lost interest quickly probably did so as the babe in the two piece came on.... To each his own! I was sweating more watching this than I do watching cops...
