Power Pro and a top shot of 30lb. floro hooked to a bigger Mackerel. I did not stand a chance - the fish stripped 150 yds of line in about 60 seconds and was head straight for the weeds. I had no choice to put my thumb down on the spool in an attempt to stop the beast but my 30 lb. floro broke at the hook knott. I saw one fish out of the 3 hooked by a kayaker.

Slow day - out of there at 11:30.

Bummer you lost it. Any inadequacies with the Cortez reel? I have the same reel, yet to use it, but plan to take on a 1.5 dayer as a 20 or 25# setup.

I have the same reel and have caught many fish on it. I caught a 30 Blue fin on it no issues. The only complaint is the amount of drag. I think it has 15lbs of drag so even if you button it down, fish will peal off line.

I have a couple of them too. Agree with this assessment.

I have 6 Cortez reels in different sizes and have had zero issues. I fish Daiwa Saltist prior and loved them as well.
