Cockroaches in my sink!

I had a great start to the bug season this year already.

I got a call from a friend on Saturday mid-day who said he had limit at a certain location, and I should hop to it if I want to do hoop netting and get some bugs.

I had to rush to the spot and spend the night hoop netting and got my limit.

1-Bugs in the sink.

2-I took them to my brother’s house to share. He made these appetizers.

3-My sister-in-law oven cooked them.

4- Some Persian style rice and salad put it all together. Of course there was a nice wine to go with it.

I also released between 250-300 shorts based on the following calculation:
Pull net every 15 min…>>4/hr. X 6 hours=24 pulls,
Pull net every 20 min...>>3/hr. X 5 hours=15 pulls,
39 pulls X 2 nets=78 pulls,
Average 4 lobsters per net=312
Some pulls had 6 bugs, and a few none.

WOW.

Thanks. I will keep in mind.

I am certified, but have not gone diving in many years.

Purchased a new dive computer, and yet to put it in the water.

I hope my wetsuit still fits.

Mahigeer,

If you haven't dove in years, please, please do some daytime refresher courses and a night warm-up dive before heading out on a night bug hunt. Every year too many folks are lost due to task overloading on a night bug hunt, and no bug is worth that.

I am an active diver, and even I get overwhelmed and call dives early when bug hunting--so much going on during these dives. Just this last weekend I bailed out with half a tank after getting wrapped up in kelp for a few minutes. Stopped that spiral before it could start.

Thank you for the advise.

I do not take chances that can be very dangerous.

Not worth it.
