Has anyone noticed the...

...price of squid these days? Just finished using my last batch of vacuum sealed bagged in Spring...went to Dana and it was $21.99 for a 3# box...WOW! Granted, they sell the quality but Child Please... My secret Asian market wasn't much cheaper and their quality was horrible. I'm looking for best price, great quality if anyone has a source...until they show, can't be soon enough. Jim

I went to Zion and 99 a couple months ago and to my amazement they were both out of market squid. Normally I get it for $2 a pound at either of those markets. I was puzzled because a couple of months prior to that I read an article about the explosion of squid and octopus populations in the worlds oceans. ???

supply and demand

powers that be wouldn't let em wrap any more. essentially we "ran out" last spring. supply down, so drove the price up. same expected to happen this year. 99 ranch in SD/Clairemont was pretty much out all last winter. squidco ran out even started selling frozen squid as bait that boxed for human consumption
