Stolen Kayak from OEX Sunset on Mon Aug 11, 2008
Blue X Factor, rear flush mounts and center hatch. No front hatch makes this easily identifiable. Blue Extreme, 4 flush mounts 3 hatches BLEM stamped by the serial number paddles are Tsunamis and the seats are Seairsports Outbacks with the OEX logo on the back. pfds were basic orange ones. Sent out a couple guys fishing (my guess would be filipino or pacific island descent). Short hair and 5'6 20-30 years old, one older than the other) Pretty sure they were here last week as well. really was not thinking foul play as they had all their fishing gear and looked familiar. Told them to be back by closing at 6 PM. I paddled out looking at 6:30. No show, called sheriff at 7:45, they searched the harbor and called me at 9PM. Filled out a report. The value of the kayaks and gear make this Grand Theft. Crappy way to start the week. Any information or help with the return of the kayaks will be greatly appreciated. Andy 562-592-0800 |

These are pics of similar kayaks. The Extreme is identical. It does not have the foam inside, has the side handles that are not indented. 3 hatches and 4 rod holders. The X Factor is really a one of a kind. I took a standard rental BLEM and added the 2 key Viking center hatch and the 2 rear flush mounts. There is not another one like this one. Seats say OEX on the back, paddles are Tsunamis. The pfds are the basic orange ones. Thanks for any help. Obviously an error on my part. These guys were familiar face........and fishermen. They had been in at least once before so I was lax in doing anything more than having them fill out the release of liability..............live and learn.

What action is appropriate if we were to, say... find them fishing LaJolla?: Angel_anim:. I'm easy going... but that really gets me mad. The rest of us work (or in some cases fish) really hard for our yaks! Punks!

I can think of some "appropriate" actions, but I think the better question is what actions are recommended?

Oh, I hope we see them on the beach. Most likely they are already south of the border already.
Action recommended: Well, I need to fill my chum pots with somthing this lobster season... Really sorry to hear of the loss, we will surely keep our eyes open. Willy |
