Some how if anyone has gone there on a kayak.

I thought drive to Tijuana and launch from there
or something like that.

I believe north Coronado Island is 15-18 miles from point Loma. Not sure what it is from Playas Tijuana. Nados can be a tough windy place.
A mother ship taking your yak to the islands is the way to go.

From Playas is about 7-8 miles
