June Lakes loop ⛰️
June Lake was empty of fish - kayaked the entire coastline early morning for nada. Some motorboats were digging deep with downriggers. Did not see anybody catch. Silver Lake was a disappointment as well (sorry Saba Slayer ). Entire evening 5-8pm two people kayaking = just 1 big beauty brown 14". Amazing fish, but just one, not even other bites. Maybe they eat once a day in the morning... Was surprised how shallow and full of bottom vegetation this lake is. No wonder there is crawfish there. We managed to get some good native trout in other lakes however. Like the Golden/Rainbow hybrid below top. This fish had some "gold nuggets" inside, like dispersed roe, never seen anything like it. Sorry did not take pictures. Overall - beats the ocean. Nice weather (got some frost on the tent though @ Silver @ dawn), no mosquitoes and no fire smoke which is a big 🍀 these days in the Sierras.
