Anyone ever ship a kayak?
I just relocated to the Seattle area and am quickly realizing that A) there is a TON of water to explore here and B) the kayak inventory SUCKS. New stock is non-existent and resale market is nothing but old sit-ins and k-mart specials. So frustrating. Anyone have any success stories shipping a kayak, say from SoCal to the PNW? I'm going to continue to search locally but come late winter, I'll be "all hands on deck" looking for a new sled. TIA BD fam... - Kenny |

Possibly....
I was thinking of moving to Florida and looked for shipping options for my boat. There are companies that do ship them and would most likely ship kayaks. You might find a dealer who would ship it to you as well.
Still thinking of moving to Florida but I sold the boat. I would be taking my PA17 and PA14 though.

Austin kayak shipped kayak purchases for a while. They appear to have stopped, perhaps because sales tax is now applied to online out-of-state purchases (started in 2021 for Florida). Nautical Ventures tried shipping kayaks but stopped due to the high amount of damage claims. Let us know if you find a good way to ship kayaks.

Might be a long shot, but SEA is a doable drive from SoCal if you make a few stops on the way. If that was even remotely an option for you, it might be worth packing some camping gear, scooping a kayak in SoCal, and hitting a few spots on the way back North! I know there's a lot more to it than that, but unfortunately, the way things are going with inventory and distribution right now, that might be the "easier" option. Hope you get what you're looking for soon!
