Just for the heck of it I searched this websites for the number of posts using newbie and noob.

Results are:

286 posts using newbie
133 posts using noob

Our internet police must be asleep at the wheel.

I bet if you look at most of the post that use noob or newbie you would find that it is the person posting the post that is calling themselves a newbie or noob
