The REEL Plasticman!
Allrighty, We have a sponsor and a lil WCW downtime. Big Hammer has offered up a BUNCH of plastics for the winner.
Big Hammer has offered up a $50 pile of their swimbaits for the overall winner. They are also going to give away a Big Hammer T shirt plus an additional $50 worth of their swimbaits for the person who submits the most subs that were caught on Big Hammer Swimbaits (please note in your post) The real "Plasticman" will be decided in 2007. It won't be decided by the biggest YT caught or even how many. It will be more like a scavenger hunt. Here is a list of all the inshore fishes that were listed for last years IRONMAN. The person who catches the most of the fish on the list will be this year's PLASTICMAN. Fish do not have to be in season or of legal size, just snap the picture in the water at boatside, at arms length, on deck, or have someone take the picture, just make sure the plastic is in the mouth. GULP ain't plastic, the plastics with the lead embedded is fine. swimbaits, scampis, grubs all good. No squid trailers, this aint SQUIDMAN. Oh yeah..........all fish must be caught from the kayak! greenback mackerel spanish mackerel smelt lizardfish sand dab rockfish cabezon treefish lingcod midshipman sarcastic fringehead surf perch yellowfin croaker spotfin croaker sheephead halibut spotted bay bass sandbass calico bass sculpin bonito barracuda yellowtail white seabass black seabass senorita tomcod blacksmith halfmoon shark, or ray wild card Just post your pics in this thread and I'll keep score. Allow me to get this started
Caught 2 rockfish today on the 5 inch black over pink with the 1 oz head. The pretty red beat out the lowly salmon grouper for the photo op.

I forgot to ask it, but I think Nate is correct, probably picked up on the drop. Sometimes they hit it, drop it then pick it up right away.
So if I get bumbed near the bottom, I just let it free fall right back down. I have hooked alot in the top I think, but I never thought about it much. Now that I think about it I bet I hook way more on the drop, or while bouncing it on the bottom than I do the retrieve. Dave
