Dude was lucky someone was around to apply a tourniquet. You should always go out with someone and I don't know if divers carry a first aid kit but that should be a minimum.

I carry a quick clot sponge and a couple Israeli bandages along with rope, flashlight, and spare knife in a little pelican case. I hate carrying extra shit around but hopefully I never need it.

That is why i carry my 357 magnum when i go fishing. 357 to a great whites head may deter it.
