As of now the trip that was offered for June 13-15 has about 5 anglers. We are opening this trip up to the public to try and fill the spots needed to run the trip. If interested please call the shop and we will take your information. We will need about 10 more people to make the trip run. Sorry for what has taken place with these trips. We hope to run this one so give us a call.

Thank you

Today I went, tested several kayaks and pick out a new one for the stable. Also signed up for one of the last spots on the 2.5 day trip. Got to finish rigging it tomorrow and then test it out at LJ on Monday and then I'll be all set for the Islander trip. This will be my first Islander trip and I can't wait.

Our 3.5 day NCKA trip that just got back landed over 90 YT. If you're thinking about signing up for one of OEX's trips NOW is the time to get out there.

OK- this weekend is looking to be a great trip

Be down at Fishermans Landing around 5-6pm to unload-and get situated.

Plenty of places to grab a beer and eats- Crew will get the boat organized and departure will be determined when all buttoned down.

There is parking in the lot, but is paid parking. They give you 1/2 or so for free to unload if you would like to look for street parking for free.

Meals, drinks (non alcoholic) snacks included.

We still have 2 spots available-

Go get em-

Call Shop with any questions

Yeah, my Hobie paddle had a leash and was attached to the shaft by a yellow velcro strap. I even have my name or Phone number engraved on the blade. Please check if you have a Hobie paddle and send me a PM if you find it. The last time I saw it was when it was on cart number 28 and it wasn't there when I got the last of my gear. Thanks Guys, Mark.

Lot's of smaller grade yellows and some up to about 30 pounds. Handful of halibut, lots of bass, whitefish, rockfish stuff like that. Fun trip! Good weather! Good people. The crew worked their asses off for this trip.

Tony summed it up well. The crew was awesome. The food incredible, the wind was the only issue. Caught a bunch of calico's, small grade yellows and lost a couple of large yellows. One right at the yak when the 30lb yellow I was ready to gaff pulled the 40lb fluorocarbon leader right onto the mirage drive fins and broke off the leader. The second when I was fighting it in 100' of water and gaining line the frickin Ultra fishing boat pulls up 35 yards behind me and drops his anchor. That Asshole, the noise made my fish sound straight down and pulling hard on my tightly adjusted drag when at the bottom he wrapped me up in some rocks and I could never get it loose, finally had to break the 65lb braid. The trip was awesome and I can't wait for the next one. What a way to break in my Hobie Revolution 13. Thanks OEX and Islander.

Thanks for the updates, fellas.

Glad to hear the YT are still around. The trip I chartered is heading back out on Sunday. Looks like the weather is shaping up, as well.

Mind sharing if there was a magic halibut depth? Or were they scattered? On last year's 2.5 day OEX trip most of the halibut were caught in the 80ft-120ft zone. On our 3.5 day trip earlier this month we didn't catch any, but most of us were flylining for YT the vast majority of the trip.

The halibut that were caught were right up along the beach, nothing big. There is or was plenty of squid in the cove but it didn't really start to come together until the late afternoon. If you know how to make squid and are willing to work at it, there will be more than plenty for you to fish with.

Here are the two bigger ones I caught one was 45 ft and 16 feet of water. I caught the most halibut within an hour before and after the high tide. One on squid the other on sardine. Squid caught one in the afternoon. I was fishing centered on the cove drifting in from 50 ft to the surf and then back out covering as much ground as possible north of the kelp bed in the cover.

Hope that makes sense and helps
