Didn't feel like waiting until March

Just as the fishing started getting really good toward the end of 2013, Dec 31st came way too quick. It seemed like the good quality Reds and Lings were just starting to show their faces

A few weeks into January, we missed having some quality taco meat around. We decided to say SCREW THE RULES! We do what we want

So we packed up the coolers, loaded up the boat and off we went. With all the legal pressure from the authorities, we had to keep our heads low and get in and out as fast as we could. The weather was great during the day, but around 11, the fog and wind rolled in making it nearly impossible to stay on a spot.

Mini-macs loaded, and a driver at the helm keeping us on the spot, the Lings had no problem coming out to play. We ended up catching six legal lings and a good number of quality reds and white fish. Two of the lings were released, on their own terms.

It was also a good excuse for our friends to try out their new Rockfish Derby shirts in the blazing sun.

All in all, a fun day of good drinks, good friend, good food, and good fishing!

Congrats on your haul! It looks like you had a fun day on the water, even if you had to keep it on the down low.
