Fishing Costa Rica

I'm going to Costa Rica for a couple of weeks. Can anyone suggest good places to fish and good guides for kayak, panga or sport boat fishing? I'll be traveling kind of light so I won't have any of my own gear.

Ok. Let me narrow it down. Has anyone fished the Nicoya peninsula (near Santa Teresa or Mal Pais)? Any suggestions?

I have been to Costa Rica a couple of times and stayed at Nosara which is on the Nicoya Peninsula. There is a little harbor near Nosara and you can go out on a Panga. The fishing there is pretty good. I have been to Santa Teresa and I am sure that you can find fishing there. I am not sure about Mal Pais. That is a fairly secluded area.

If you are not taking any of your gear ,at least take tackle ,plastics ,hooks, weights ,irons ,what ever you think you will need ,and if you do allot of panga fishing with one boat ,be a good sport and TIP them with the tackle that survived the trip before you leave ,makes for good PR the next time you come to town.Photograph all your fish ,there will be some there that you have never seen before .Fish-On Brother

Thanks. That's a great idea. Any suggestions on plastics that might work down there?

Awesome. When was the last time you were down there? What's the fishing like? Top? Bottom? Live bait? What kind of tackle should I bring?

I was last down there 3 years ago. We left the day after Christmas and stayed 10 days. We were mostly surfing. The fishing when we were there was mostly top water. We did not bring any fishing gear or tackle. The Panga operator supplied us with everything. I love it down there. Have fun.
