Kayak crew headed up Oct 4 to the 8 -2021

The kayak crew headed up to Crowley in the beginning of October.
It was the steamer and midges.
I fished the Lake for 3 day and the lower Owens for 2.

Last day in Mammoth Lakes

Nice photos! Congratulations on the catches! That is some early snow for Mammoth, thanks for the report.

Wow, I grew up going to Mammoth since the 1960 ties. Opening dat at Crowley was a big family memory, I think we fished at Alligator point and it was a huge endeavor getting there and when we did it was wall to wall people. Your photos bring back memories but seeing the lake at that level makes me sad. I guess it is the new norm with climate change. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.

Small world, I just missed you! I was at Crowley on the 3rd. No fishing though. Just stopped off to photograph the stone columns on the way to Yosemite. Did the half-dome hike and cable climb on the 4th. Just barely missed the snow! Looks like a really nice trip.

Mark,
Nice fish and pictures.
How was the Lower O? I have been trying to get my wife to go but she says the flow has been too high. I noticed it is down in the last few days to about 200 cfs.

Tom it was flowing at 400 CFS. I caught 10 smalls on Thursday.
Friday I found a nice hole and landed caught 4-- 12 to 16 inch browns.
Today the Lower O is down to 167. good time to go.

Finally made it up there to fish the Lower Owens on 11/11 and 11/12. I posted a report on the Bloody Decks fly fishing forum.
It was a good trip. I managed about 24 fish in two days and my wife got about 20. She got the big fish at about 16 inches. My biggest was about 13. Weather was glorious.
