Looking for adventure?

I would like to get the word out on this, giving ample scheduling time to anyone interested in coming along.

This is by no means a guided trip, just a loosely organized non profit group outing.

Jason Morton of Kayak Sportfishing and I are ironing out all the details of coordinating a group outing to Catalina. We have been talking to Catalina Ferries as well as the rangers on Catalina.

How to secure a spot on this trip will be announced in the near future.

3 days and 2 nights, will cost each person approximately $200, this will cover your round trip ticket (
as well as shipping your kayak) from MDR, to Two Harbors. For a fee (already considered in the estimated cost) our gear will be taken to the campsite at Little Harbor and our kayaks taken across the Isthmus to Cat Harbor, We then paddle and fish our way the four miles to camp. Camping is $12 per night and is figured into the total estimated cost.

The current schedule for departure is 9:30 AM on April 4th. There may be other options, as we have been offered possible space on runs not on the public schedule. We will leave the island 4:30 PM on Sunday.

There will also be the option of taking one of the other Flyers that service Two Harbors and renting fishing kayaks there. Taking your own kayak will save you approximately $100 for a 3 day rental.

Jason and I would be happy to field any questions, as I said details will be laid out as this draws nearer.

So, Mark your calenders!

I have wanted to do this trip ever since Jas and Rhyno did it almost 2 years ago.

How close will the campsite be to the WSB? Sounds like an awsome trip.

I am there, non-fishing schedule pending...but the dates look ideal. There's a bunch of awesome spots during that 4 mile stretch - as well as some others in the Little Harbor vicinity. Can't wait!

Sounds great. I'm a little confused... is the $200 the cost if you bring your own kayak,
or the cost if you rent one there?

Either way, I'm up for this trip...

Dave, I wanted to throw out an estimated cost for the trip. Renting a kayak there for three days is $140 versus paying an additional $40 added to your R/T fare to ship your kayak, hence the $100 difference. So $200 your yak, $300 their yak.

We are not sure of the exact cost of the transferring kayaks across the isthmus and delivery of gear to the site, as we will be paying an hourly rate. I will be putting up an itemized breakdown of the cost. This may be limited to 30 people, but the Flyer has been very accommodating and will work with us however they can. We could charter her for a mere $7800....I had to ask.

Check out the Isthmus right now.............looks glassy to me.

Looks like my ride is tentatively in so look for us anchored off the beach. Hopefully we'll have live squid, but Mike charges some weird fees, if you know what I mean. Is the camping limited to 30 or can we get extra sites if arriving by boat?

Shame bug season will be closed.

What you won't be staying in the "Stabbin Cabin" with Mike!!

Make some room for me... on the boat, not stabbin cabin!
