Oceanside Advice

A friend is coming in to town staying up in O-side next week. He's fished LJ with me before and wants to try it up there. I've never fished there. I did a search here and there's not alot of info on it. I assume you launch in the harbor at the boat launch and paddle out? I guess the usual fare of Calcs and Sandies are there? I read about hali's too. WSB?

Any expereinces you can share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

yup. boat launch and fish around the harbor. flatty's etc.

if the swell is minor and you guys have the ganas, try carlsbad kelp off the powerplant...bring some heavy gear tho. there's some big boys in the weeds. halibut on the inside of the kelp.

good luck.

calicos and sandbass are biting pretty good right now up there. there are a few sets of artificial reefs a little over 1 mile out of the harbor. the coordinates are published on the dfg site. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/artificialreefs/index.asp

I was in Oceanside Harbor last Thursday with some pretty good luck. Caught 2 small spotted bass with small swim bait.. Had tons of bites but could hook anything else! A lot of fun though! (caught 4 lizard fish, but that doesn't count)
