eating squid?

every time i go out i load up on squid and take it home for bait later, either from the surf or taking the yak out where there's no squid available.

anyways, i have more than 15lbs of the stuff in the freezer and was wondering if anyone eats them? I know how to bake them, and fry them, even the stir fry type method. just not sure if these are the good tasting ones or not.

also, can you eat it raw?

Hell Yeah!!! Fry'em up, little bit of cocktail sauce or tartar sauce....oh yeah good eats! Better than anything you buy from the market or the restaurant. Don't see why you couldn't eat'em raw...if you like that kind of thing....

sweet, ill probably get some fresh ones and fry 'em up instead of thawing out a whole bag. i've seen squid in sushi restaurants so i was curious.

I eat them raw. After you open them up, slice them into strips diagnolly. If you slice them horizontally, they will have a crunchy texture, but if sliced diagnolly, they will be more tender.

There's always the go-to recipe of cutting them up into rings and then batter frying them. Don't overcook, and use a larger portion of starch to flour -and season the mix.

Pair the calamari with spicy marinara sauce and a good pilsner or lager and you're in heaven!
