MB 3-15 more gulpman entries

The original plan was to go buggin in the big bay Friday night with my wingman Jim (Spyder). My wingman has been letting me down lately. The last three weekends we were supposed to go buggin and fishing together. The 1st weekend he says he's sick, something about a 102 temperature....whatever. Ok...we make plans for the following weekend. This time he's got pneumonia and can't make it....WHAT A WUSS!!! Ok then.... last weekend of bug season and we are definately going....then I get the call from Spyder.....the winds blowing....it's my daughters birthday.......so sad. Where are his priorities?

The wind was calm when I arrived at Fiesta Island at O dark thirty. I was feeling lazy so I figured fiesta would be a good launch. Just drive to the waters edge and launch the yak. I hit the water about the time it started to get light. The tide was moving out well and the day looked promising. I paddled out to my 1st spot and started to get a pretty steady bite on the croakers. There were a couple of bigger models there with the biggest going 16in. That fishing began to taper off so I moved to my second spot and went looking for spotties.

The 2nd spot was loaded with spotties. Nothing real big but a fish on just about every cast. The best part was that I was out infront of a bunch of shore fisherman...just out of there casting range....while I landed bass after bass. I say a bunch I mean three guys and 28 rods lining the shore. The wind started to blow fairly early and I was off the water by 9am. By the time I was loaded up and ready to go the wind was starting to kick up strong.

Overall a short productive trip to the bay. 23 fish in an hour and a half. Made a day full of honeydo's a little more palatable that's for sure.

OH ya....just bustin your chops wingman...see you tomorrow afternoon for some bassin.......maybe.

fish count:

9 Croaker (needed more gulpman entries)
14 spotties

all C&R

Nice going. 23 fish in 1.5 hours is some serious action!

It was some quick action for sure. The two spots I tried were holding well. Paddle to the spot....cast...catch a fish. Paddle back to the spot....cast....catch another. Doesn't get much better. Specially on the 6lb test and enjoying a cigar.

My best days are often when people flake on me whether it's fishing, skiing, surfing, or whatever.

That's some good fishin'. Nice photos too.
