Which would you prefer as an all around reel? We're talking Hali's, YT and WSB.

unfortunately those tyrnos are more like 80 bucks more.

I use the X40 and love them for WSB and YT fishing off the kayak......30 dollars off makes me want to pick a x40 number four

either ratio is good, buy them both!!
I really like the lower ratio for spectra/bait setups

I landed a 42# WSB last year with a X20.The 20 and 30 have the same drag.40 and 50 also have the same drag.20 and 40 are the narrows.I would not be interested in a 30 or 50 if I had spectra on the reel.

I've got a dozen sealines, both the Sealine-X and the older "slosh"es. I love them. I upgraded all of them to greased carbon fiber drags.

the 20/30's sizes have a smaller diameter spool than the 40/50's. with spectra there's no need for the 30. likewise with spectra there's no need for the 50. I like the narrower spools especially with spectra.

the larger diameter spools will cast better, especially for throwing iron. so for iron, go with the 40. for bait, either the 20 or 40, really not much difference other than line capacity. drag is pretty much the same, 15lbs for the 20, 17 for the 40. the 40's have slightly larger gears so the 40 will give you a little more cranking power over the 20.

fish them either filled with spectra and a short top shot or 250-300ds of spectra and 50-75yds of mono. I have them rigged both ways depending on what I'm doing. make sure with the spectra to put a few yards of 10lb mono on the bottom before you tie on the spectra, or wrap the spool with some of that wrap tape you put on your fingers to keep from getting line cuts. that way the spectra doesn't slip on the spool.

they're awesome reels and you can fish anything with them. they cast great, are super strong, and need little maintenance. they come with pretty good drags, but put the greased carbon fiber in them and they become super.

Great thread....just logged into Sports Chalet and ordered a 40 which had the 4.9 gears. FREE shipping on orders over $75. The 50 on sale has the faster gears and I already have a 50 w/6.1. Oh well, I think this makes my 4th sealine...hard to beat for casting.

I was thinking I could avoid a drive if the shipping time is less than a few days....
