Was out early Saturday - had a few bonita hook-ups and a whole lot of mackerel - some the biggest I have seen.

Sunday was nuts with the surf but I am a nut so we went for it. This was in a tandem island with only one pedal drive but the launch went fine once i figured out the timing of the surf.

The swell was huge out near the kelp - even the big boats were nowhere to be seen. I expected great fishing but it was the worst yet with only a small calico throw-back and an ocean white fish.

I almost hooked a swimmer from a competition when a line was inadvertently released from the banging around with a big ole rapala about 300m worth of line out. Thank God a lifeguard saw it before it was drug through the swim lane.

Out of curiousity - what is the legal size for a competition swimmer?
