Minnow Traps

http://www.tackledirect.com/eagle-cl...nnow-trap.html

What do you guys/gals think of this contraption? I used to use this thing as a kid back east and it would catch tons of mullet, killies and spearing (the EC equivalents of a sardine out here). Not sure if it the holes could be expanded to take in a mac or two. I was thinking of trying it out for free live bait. All we uesed o do was put a couple of slices of bread in there and it was instant bait in about 15 minutes.

If it were legal/ and if you were to go that route, this would be more ideal.. especially on a kayak.

Both traps are legal as long as they are not over 3' in greatest dimension. I have both. To bait the trap freshwater however is not legal as it would be considered chumming- placing a 'material' in the water to attract fish. what about scents and dips then? Go figure, just another beaurocratic 'wobbler'.

I thought bait traps became illegal a few years back? Did I miss something?

What about cut or live bait...........minnow traps are illegal in saltwater regardless of size.

I had no idea this shit was not legal. christ it's only a minnow trap. but I should have known. it figures. it's CA after all. no 20 round mags (hell no 11 nd mags). no pistol grips. No flash hiders. no pepper spray over 3oz., no radar detectors. no fishing off the entire town of Laguna. no fun. thanks for the update folks. gotta love Kali.

PS Iceman does that make catfood illegal?
