Gloves are a constant for me. Look for ones with no fingertips, made of some sort of spf 50 fabric, with synthetic leather palm reinforcement. They aren't stiff, dry quickly, protect your fingers and palms as well as the backs of your hands. They're great in Baja!
In cold weather (freshwater bass, trout, salmon) I go with fingerless neoprene gloves.
I dislike sunscreen on my fingers because I believe (superstition?) fish have a highly developed sense of smell and I haven't found any fishy sunscreen. :-)

I start to consider gloves too when my hands get some uncomfortable chafing from the rope after pulling up the anchor multiple times on my last trip. I just installed an anchor trolley so I use the anchor more frequently now. I’ll check out the nrs gloves too

I need new gloves too.

I used to paddle a lot and now just a bit and I hate sunscreen, so I've always worn gloves. Ive had a few different brands over the years. One of the best pairs I've had, was a pair of nice wakeboarding gloves (can't recall the brand). I cut the fingertips off at the seams and the construction was very nice. They lasted about 3 seasons. I currently have the AFTCO gloves and they are almost done with less than a year.

I've heard good things about the buff gloves and Simms.

Thanks guys.

Will order either nrs or buff depending on what deal I could find.

You can make an all-natural fish attractant sunscreen by mixing 1:1 menhaden oil and bird droppings
