Surf

How is the surf at La Jolla for this weekend?

I know about msw and like websites but last time I was there I was not on my PA14 and did not check the report so I have no reference point. Thanks

The website I use doesn't have the weekend prediction yet, but the pattern for this time of year is for dominant South swell (traveling thousands of miles from the winter storms in the South Pacific) so LJ shores is in a big protected swell shadow. Of more concern is short period northwest wind-swell caused by local winds. So morning launch will be easier than the noon/afternoon landing when the winds have picked up.

Check "magicseaweed.com/scripps-pier-LaJolla-surf-report/296/" This a accurate most of the time, but once in a while they predict 2-3 feet and 10 seconds intervals and when you get there at 6 am they look more like 4-5 feet and 8 seconds. This last two weeks were and all of this week look like sometimes they are ankle slappers and the wind picks up and they get to 2-3 feet. I will take that anytime, doesn't get any better unless you go to an lake. Some days it is Lake La Jolla. http://magicseaweed.com/Scripps-Pier...rf-Report/296/
