LJ Launch Update

Saw them putting up wood forms at the launch. Looks like it may not be too much longer.

Obviously, the launch is convenient, but I started to think about having to worry about stuff getting stolen when I go to park my car AND all those idiots who don't have 4WD that block the entrance to the launch. Not to mention the tourists who go down the street by mistake and have to make a 3 pt turn to get out. Also the damn kayak rental guys claiming the entire launch during high tide.

Don't have to worry about those things wheeling my kayak...just saying.

The few trips that I've made to LJ when I was solo I would setup the kayak wherever I parked and would wheel it down to the launch, I'm not a fan of leaving my stuff alone.

FWIW, I would set up everything on my yak except the rods/reels. Go park and walk back carrying the rods. Then again, I don't have wheels so I don't have that option.

I carry my rods....and my paddle. If somebody wants to make off with my boat, he's paddling prone like it's a 70lb longboard.

So went out on Sunday and peeked over the fence and then walked up around the fence. It looks like they have finished pouring the cement. Waiting for the cement to dry?

One of the kayak tour guides said that he was told they are going to extend the launch to the ocean? I asked him again to be certain on what he was saying. I find his claim absurd. How in the heck would you pour a concrete pad to the ocean and for which tide? Low tide included?

In any case, they better compact that sand, otherwise, even 4WD will get stuck. Hopefully, we'll see a open launch soon!
