Kayak Fishing San Diego - Kayak Rentals

Hey Everyone!

If you've been down to LJ lately I'm sure you have seen the ambulance 🚑 dropping off kayaks!

I wanted to let those that need the service know what we do!

Kayak Fishing San Diego offer rentals of the highest quality, fully outfitted pedal driven fishing kayaks.

Your rental may be delivered to one of several major launch sites in the greater San Diego area. Including San Diego Bay, Mission Bay, and La Jolla Shores. KFSD’s friendly staff will be there to walk you through the basics, advise you on common local fishing techniques, and ensure a safe launch and landing.

$5k for a truck that locks over 15 compartments and can fit 5 14ft kayaks inside. Also can tow trailers and has flood lighting! Its funny people either love or hate it haha! But i do understand where you're coming from.

The ambulance is definitely a calling card that stands out. Last time I was launching I looked back a couple hundred yards from the shore and saw you dropping off - no doubt about who it was!

Haha. It definately does turn heads. It does make since to have a vehicle like that that has that much room. Does it have 4 wheel drive? I'm pretty sure its lighter than a regular in-service ambulance with all the medical equipment but otherwise, it still looks like it could get stuck in the sand.

BTW do you encounter conflict from the other La Jolla kayak rentals and kayak tour service? They are always coming back and forth with about a gazillion kayaks loaded onto their pickups.

Being able to store that many kayaks and all the associated gear with out needing to park and navigate a trailer in LJ has been great! At 6am I have zero problems with the kayak companies. Its 12pm pick up time I have problems. The permits to do business are $thousands a month and are awarded on a lottery based system. So i have to "deliver / pickup" 1 street away. Not a big set back with Sand Wheels.

We have some room to be flexible on hours. Its primarily on a special request basis and largely dependant on that days logistics. Although those things I cant always promise.

Standard times are:
6am - 1130am (half day)
1230pm- 6pm (half day)
6am - 6pm (full day)

Yea its a lot worse than ridiculous. Its a straight up monopoly on a public geographic area. Specifically the boat launch & the Clam cave area of the preserve...
