Thanks, the photo is a video still from a GoPro.

I had been fishing a small tuna on a 200lb leader with a 100lb braid mainline over a deep wreck when I hooked a big shark. Rather than break the shark off near the kayak, I Broke it off deep and wound up my leader for inspection. While inspecting the leader, the Hammerhead came charging at the kayak. At the last moment, she turned and splashed me with a heavy water spray. The water temp was around 80 degrees, so it actually felt good to get cooled off.

I had a bunch of strips of tuna cut up in the kayak for Mahi chum, so I am sure there was plenty of fresh fish sent oozing off the kayak. After the initial splash, the shark aggressively circled the kayak for several minutes before drifting back into the deep.

I wonder if the shark breaking off the rig and the charging shark are related incidents or independent. I have had hammerhead swim up and ram the kayak before, but that's the only time I have gotten soaked by a tail lash. Thankfully the yum yum yellow color and the scent of fresh kill onboard has never induced a shark to bite the kayak.

Envisage

To form a mental picture.
As the 7gill shark pulled me around in my Colman canoe
For 20mintes I had grand envisage of bluefin to giant halibut.
But was not left wondering.

99 red balloons 🎈

They set them free, back at base it sparks the software
Flash the message something out there.
Floating in the winter air.
Panic bells its red alert 🚨
There's something here from somewhere else
The war machines springs to life.
The President is on the air as 99 red balloons 🎈 go by.

angel's touch -

When you are peeing or shitting and your penis touches the urinal / toilet where other dicks probably have been.

As long as it takes mods to remove spam I may still have some time here

Wow Mitch,
3 Hammerheads is a lot for one day! I don't think I have seen that many in one day. Usually one or two, one time a huge one alongside, was very humbling.

Yes, The rig is for groupers. The groupers are cautious here. If they see the weight, they get lockjaw. The method is to have 40ft or more leader from the weight. I attach the weight with a rubberband so that it can be pulled off as I reel up.

Out of a dozen tries, I have managed to pull one Grouper out of the wrecks and taken many by-catch species.

The first one I hooked in deep water, right off Scripps pier.
It had about a 2ft hammer and as long as my kayak it took me on a good sled ride. As soon as I pulled it up next to my kayak, I cut the line. My only regrets is after the guy in a pro angler caught up to me, he said he had a go pro we could have got some footage. He couldn't believe how fast and far it pulled me I had no idea. I just kept my pole between my legs and held on. 2ft away is to close for comfort. The other 2 I knew what they were and I just thumb the spool and snapped the line.
I met the other guy that day at the launch and I'm glad we fished together because we both warned each other that a hammerhead was on your tail.
