Risk it or not?

I have read a lot of posts where people are asking for others to I.D. the fish they have caught or help them with the legal size limit. So my question to you all is are you willing to Risk it or not?

Personally I would rather study up on what's legal to catch than risk getting caught with something that could get you fined or worse. Does anyone else carry a DFG Reg. book with them on the water? If I catch something I don't know what it is, I photo it, release it, and investigate later at home. Better to be safe than fined.

Take risks not to escape life but to prevent life from escaping.....

Hope this answers your double question.

i keep regulations in my bag and a laminated paper with pics of species and a tape measure plus measurements on the gaff itself. Cover your bases and then you dont have to question yourself or get questioned by law enforcement. I have debated on whether to keep a barely short or dying fish but I always end up throwing 'em back

If there is any question, then there is no question. CPR, confirm later, keep fishing.

I've had this same conversation with myself. Better to release than explain.

Don't know, I'm not a Hobie guy. I like the Ocean Kayaks and Malibu Kayaks myself. Call me a purist.

However I would assume anything in the 1200 price range is pretty good.

I personally don't risk it.
We have so much technology at our fingertips while fishing that if I don't know the species or regulation I can look it up on my phone within minutes. I've caught my share of non regulation fish and have never kept one. If I was strictly fishing to eat and survive I wouldn't have a choice but thank god I've never been put in that position. Why cheat at a sport that I spend alot of money on and time learning? I find no pride in that.
When it gets down to it, I feel that if your going to risk it then why even bother buying a fishing license to begin with?
Sorry if I sound like a dick but that's just my opinion.

Mike
