Another Whale Tail

Finally a kayak report from me....I pulled the boat out after 3 months in the water and she really needed some bottom cleaning and TLC...so the PA 14 got a trip out to the reef.
I launched about 4pm and there was quite a Whale show out on the water. Two whales were feeding right next to the area I was planning to hoop last night. They would come up and then pound the water with their tails...lots of noise and huge splashes.

I started setting the nets as the sun was setting and every once in a while the silence would be broken by the woosh of air as the whales came up to breath.
After a while I could hear them but it was too dark to see them...kinda eerie!
The water was on fire as the sun set and the hooping was on fire later. I had my limit in the first two nets and was back at the dock early

That Scotty Puller was made for the Hobie PA and really makes life a lot easier in the deep water.

Nice Jim. Awesome colors. There must be some serious upwelling in the canyon recently, as the whales have been hanging around for hours.
