Point Loma 05/01

Had a buddy come out from Washington, for some fishing. Went the easy route and targeted sheepshead. Ending up being a slower day Managed about 30 sheepshead between the three of us. Took home four of them. Great variety of fish. Caught a few kelp rockfish, calico, spotted bay bass, sheepshead, bardcuda. The rock fish, calico and sheephead were caught fishing structure in the kelp. Whole shrimp are the way to go. I recommend going to a Asian fishing mart. The shrimp I got at seafood city was 3.99lb while the Vons shrimp was 12.99lb for the same shrimp. Used spoons coming out of the kelp on our way back to the jetty got a few baby cudas. Then off to the flats south of the jetty searching for halibut. Only got the one spotted bay bass. Over all good day not to hot, the swell was tough for our stomachs but just gotta get back my sea legs.

Navy base. But Kellogg’s beach works well for civilians.
