For anyone still wondering if they should ever make the trip. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks John! I have so much footage, hard to slap it all together in short period of time, so I just whipped up a couple highlights of the trip.

That's some awesome fishing there, nice video and pictures.

Where is Gonzaga located in Baja?

BTW, those were Tutuava not WSB, correct? I notice the hump on their shoulders which Tutuava have but Whites don't. I ask because, I think they are endangered and still protected.

Looks like you released it, good. But, it's nice to know they still exist, and that size looked capable of breeding. I think that must be the largest fish in the croaker family as the largest used to go around 300lbs. My grandfather had old photos from San Felipe trips in the 1950s when he went fishing there. One photo showed 6-8 Tutuavas hanging from hooks, 6-7 foot fish, all 150lbs or more. It's too bad better restrictions didn't exist to keep that population of fish around.

Yes thats exactly what they were. We hooked 6 or 7 in a matter of a couple minutes. Could have stayed on one reef all day and been pulling them up, but they are a sensitive fish so we moved off the spot pretty quickly.
